OUR LIFE LONG MISSION IS TO PUT A SPRING IN PEOPLE’S STEPS…
I had a moment a couple of months ago where I sat back and looked at what Solesmith was doing. I had just had my first baby, the business was five years old (how did that happen!) and we realised that whilst I call us a sock company, what we actually aim to do is put a spring in people’s steps.
We are one of the stages in someone spreading a little bit of joy – what an incredible privilege.
It is amazing! However, I thought that we should be using our part in this chain of joy spreading for a greater purpose. So we have launched our ‘It’s all about the Sole’ Initiative.
So whilst we will continue to design, make, and package our personalised socks in the most innovative and quality ways, we want to do a bit more.
- That means that we donated over 10,000 pairs of socks to the Scouts for their school uniform program for children who struggle to have all the essentials in the UK.
- We donate monthly to our local homeless charity if anything in our workshop isn’t absolutely perfect.
- We are doing random acts of kindness, sending a pair of socks, featuring stories on our blogs ,using people as models and just trying o do something nice for people do with a bit of cheering up or being reminded how amazing they are (we are always looking for people so please do help us out and nominate)
- We’re refreshing our social media with more genuine content and making it a bit more silly and funny and sensible and heart-wrenching and cute and shallow and deep and much more like a real person, and much more like you our customers.
And speaking of our customers - without you and your incredible custom we couldn’t be doing or talking about any of this so a massive thank you from me and the team (and I hereby give you permission to put your feet up and have a cup of tea as you peruse the internet.
My current top tip is to check out our Dancing in your Socks Wednesdays, seriously socks + dancing = just feeling a little bit better!
Thank you
Lauren and my amazing Solesmith team.
